Haitians in Montreal demonstrated to demand better management of the Haiti file.

To express their dissatisfaction with the lightness with which the Canadian government apprehends the multidimensional crisis that has plagued Haiti in recent times, members of the Haitian diaspora in Canada demonstrated in front of the offices of the Canadian Prime Minister in Montreal, on Sunday May 7, 2023 .

Through this movement, the dozens of Haitian compatriots who gathered in front of the offices of the head of government on the boulevard Crémazie Est, demanded a better approach from the international community, in particular from Canada, with regard to the political and security situation which prevails in Haiti.

“Justin Trudeau, nou bouke”, “Jistis pou Ayiti”, among other slogans uttered against the Canadian administration which recently refused to lead a military operation in Haiti despite the request made by the Haitian government.

From January to March 2023, 531 people were killed and 277 others kidnapped, according to the Office of the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). In the meantime, popular justice materialized through the “Bwa kale” movement, still does not bring the expected results. Insecurity is in full swing and the people continue to live with fear in their stomachs.
